Sewage Gas

Sewage Gas

Sewage gas is a by-product of the anaerobic process of activated sludge treatment. Activated sludge tanks, biological clarifiers and aeration tanks form the major steps in biological waste water treatment, both for industrial and municipal sewage. Inside of the typically egg-shaped anaerobic digestors the gas is generated as a metabolite of the microorganisms which form the bulk of the sludge. Depending on the actual design of the process (mesophilic, thermophilic) the biogas would eventually contain between 50 to 70% methane, also containing traces of sulphuric compounds, silicon compounds and others. The DEUTZ Power Systems R&D policy leads to special adaptations for our biogas-gensets and Edina offer an individualy tailored approach to the requirements of the water industry.

The Edina containerised genset is tried and tested in the most ardous of installations. Designed to reduce maintenance downtime and maximise efficiency, while still being price competitive. Built for a long life and operated by the people that build it.
